Born of the tree,

Bound of the sea

In this series, the artist explores a poetic relationship between wood and watercraft—between the grain of timber and the hulls of traditional Omani ships. Each painting captures a different angle of a ship’s form, closely paired with detailed renderings of wooden textures. The juxtaposition isn’t accidental; it reflects a deep appreciation for the material foundation of these vessels.

By isolating elements—the planks, knots, and curves of the ship’s body—and contrasting them with the rhythmic lines of the wood panels, the artist emphasizes how both tree and craft share a memory. The wood that once stood rooted now sails, transformed but still telling its story. Through this minimalist and intimate approach, the viewer is invited to see the ship not only as a tool of navigation but as a continuation of nature itself—patiently carved, shaped, and sent to sea.
